Curtain Couture helps clients realize the art of stylish living

WINDOW TREATMENTS, shades, curtains, bedding, pillows. The myriad of design choices can be daunting. These key elements complete the look of your home, and Curtain Couture is the go-to source for stunning interiors.

“While window treatments and bedding are our specialty, we realize our clients and designers are looking to us for much more. Curtain Couture is a one-stop source, offering turnkey custom design and fabrication for the entire home,” says Dallas native Mary Ann Bauer (recently married, her surname was formerly Young). As owner and founder of Curtain Couture, her eye for design shines through in the company’s many projects throughout Texas. The Dallas showroom is very much a working showroom, which embodies a high-end concept store rather than your average drapery shop. Hand-tailored window treatments, bedding, and motorization are the foundation of the company, but its offerings also include custom furniture fabrication, lighting, rugs, and home accessories.

In the business for more than 20 years, Curtain Couture has long been a coveted source for top designers seeking the finest hand-tailored custom drapery and window treatments from around the globe to offer their clientele. The array of design options spans from classic European and new traditional to more innovative, modern looks. The vast selection of textiles resourced and developed over the past 20 years has set Curtain Couture apart as a great source for designers and discerning homeowners seeking something beyond the norm of what can be found in the Dallas market. “Our curated selection of unique products can truly set a home apart,” says Bauer.

The star of the showroom is the new luxury-based and design-oriented bedding collection, tailored from high-end natural fiber fabrics. Bauer and landscape architect husband Bill Bauer refined the offerings to bring a clean aesthetic to the mix of luxury bedding. Saint Ellis is a collection of beautiful, breathable fabrics curated for “top of the bed” elegance, providing true comfort for restful nights and refined style in everyday living. Much of the collection can be laundered at home to further encourage the belief that everyday life can, and should, be lived in luxury. The collection is manufactured in-house in Dallas and will soon be available nationwide through select luxury bedding retailers and designers.

Given Curtain Couture’s full spectrum of services, window treatments are just the tip of the iceberg. The right window treatments tie a room together—whether it’s a subtle hue that complements the tone and palette of a room or a much-needed pop of color.

Motorization is usually next on the list, and Curtain Couture offers many different options to fit most budgets. With new technology making home automation simpler and easier, what was once seen as a luxury item is now a common request and easily attainable. As a distributor of top-quality brands, such as Hunter Douglas and Somfy, Curtain Couture is well-positioned to address any special motorization needs, and Bauer guides her clients through the entire process, from start to finish.

While Bauer definitely has a distinct style that leans toward a clean aesthetic—think West Coast/Santa Barbara with some Texas roots—a client’s or designer’s vision is always put first. This is why so many homeowners and designers keep coming back years later. The goal is to help clients achieve design goals and stay within budget. Curtain Couture’s hands-on approach goes far beyond the showroom, offering in-home consultations as needed. Bauer’s passion for design, and her clients, shines through in the showroom and in her talented staff. “At the end of the day, I’m working with our clients’ homes, a safe haven where they retreat to every single day,” she says. “It’s important they absolutely love it, and that is what my team and I strive for every day. One of our most recent clients calls us the master of cus-
tom perfection.”
