DESIGN & ART IN STYLE

A passion becomes a profession

With an eye for design and passion for art, Jamie Labar, a multi-faceted entrepreneur, is the founder of LuminArté Design and LuminArté Fine Art Gallery. One of the pioneering galleries on Levee Street and the latest art destination in Dallas’ up and coming art scene, it is conveniently nestled in the Design District.

Labar has always been passionate about art. A native Texan, she began painting and drawing as a young child and studied under various professional artists. Her family is populated with independent and spirited business owners who also enjoyed collecting art. With her entrepreneurial lineage and undeniable passion for art, Labar appeared destined for a career that would combine both.

Labar’s professional background includes a brief stint in fashion design, furniture design, decorative finishes and color consultation. She also worked as a photographic set designer and finisher for Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Bombay, and J.C. Penney, experiences that provided her with the visual design expertise, and inspiration, to launch LuminArté Design, LLC.

Creativity is a quality that is highly valued but not always well understood. Labar’s understanding of the client’s vision and her flexibility of mind help her to translate concepts into harmonious spaces of form and function that become tasteful reflections of the client’s style and expectations. Labar’s approach engages the client in every aspect including space planning, materials specifications, lighting, furnishings and artwork.

Labar’s commercial client list is substantial and includes Neiman Marcus Home, Horchow Home, Vin Classic Wines, as well as many top home product manufacturers, including Kichler, Quoizel and Emerson, with showrooms in major market centers in Dallas, Las Vegas, and High Point, North Carolina.

When fine art is the topic of conversation, thoughts tend to lean toward upscale galleries in metropolitan areas like New York, Los Angeles or various cities overseas, but many in Dallas have been working to change that perception—and Labar wants to add Dallas to the growing list of destinations known for the collective appreciation of fine art. In 2011, Labar’s passion for art and style prompted the opening of LuminArté Fine Art Gallery with a goal to bring a more inter national and bicoastal flavor to Dallas’ cultural art scene. The gallery represents and promotes international and national mid-career artists, whose works are exhibited in private, corporate and museum collections all over the world, while nurturing regional emerging artists.

LuminArté Fine Art Gallery offers patrons an environment to experience a variety of events. The gallery also houses studios for two local artists, Kay Dalton and Jim Lively, who are in the gallery most afternoons, giving people the opportunity to stop in and visit while the artists are in the midst of creating reflective works. LuminArté co-hosts Author Link Sociable, a lecture series and reception, which recently featured New York native and writer David Ritz. Guests enjoyed an up close and intimate setting with the Grammy Award-winning artist who’s had the honor of collaborating with several iconic musicians, including Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Etta James and Marvin Gaye.

Design, art and style are Jamie Labar’s motivators when it comes to the creative process. LuminArté Design and LuminArté Fine Art Gallery provide commercial and residential clients with exceptional interior services, art consultation and installation.
